Alumni news: Lumox wins Innovator Award at Philips Innovation Award 2025

We are proud to share that Venture Challenge 2023 alumnus Lumox has won the Innovator Award at the 20th edition of the Philips Innovation Award — the largest student-led entrepreneurship award in the Netherlands.

Lumox impressed the jury with their groundbreaking work on light-activated targeted cancer therapy, a novel therapeutic approach that aims to deliver treatment with high precision while minimizing side effects. Their platform uses light to activate cancer-killing compounds only at the tumor site, offering new possibilities for personalized oncology.

The Philips Innovation Award jury, composed of leaders from Philips, UPFRONT, Remote, Nxchange, PostNL, and 4impact capital, selected Lumox as one of the top startups among more than 220 applicants. The Innovator Award recognizes startups that are well on their way to market implementation and scaling impact.

“Now you really have to make it work. But we believe in you.”
— Roy Jakobs, CEO of Royal Philips, during the award ceremony to Lumox

Lumox’s success is a testament to their dedication to science-driven innovation and patient-centered impact. Congratulations to the entire Lumox team on this exciting recognition!
