STENTiT reaches clinical milestone with first-in-human trial
We’re proud to celebrate a major milestone from our Venture Challenge Fall 2016 alumnus STENTiT: the company’s regenerative stent has officially entered its first-in-human clinical trial.
What began in 2017 as an ambitious academic concept has now become clinical reality. STENTiT’s resorbable fibrillated stent was successfully implanted in its first patient at the Medizinische Universität Graz (Austria), marking the company’s entry into the clinical phase of development.
Unlike conventional metal stents, STENTiT’s technology is designed not just to reopen blocked blood vessels but to support vascular regeneration from within. Over time, the stent resorbs — enabling the vessel to heal itself. This approach represents a shift from permanent implants to next-generation regenerative devices, with the potential to transform treatment for patients with chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) and related vascular conditions.
“This is a moment we’ve been working toward for years,” the company shared on LinkedIn. “The journey toward endovascular regeneration is long — but it’s real, and it’s happening.”
We warmly congratulate the entire STENTiT team and their clinical collaborators — especially Prof. Marianne Brodmann and her colleagues in Graz — on this milestone moment.
