Alumni News: Twente Medical Optics secures €1.35M in new funding!
We are proud to share that Twente Medical Optics (TMO), alumnus of the Venture Challenge Spring 2024, has secured a total of €1.35 million in new funding through the Vroegefasefinanciering Overijssel (VFF) and EFRO Oost programmes.
Supported by Oost NL and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), these funding instruments will help TMO advance both its technology development and business validation. The EFRO subsidy builds on results from the NWO Take-Off Phase 2 project, supporting further engineering and design optimisation towards a final prototype. The VFF funding will be used to validate TMO’s market proposition and regulatory strategy — key steps on the path to FDA 510(k) clearance.
With this support, TMO aims to strengthen its position in the medical imaging market, expand its team, and prepare for its upcoming seed round.
Twente Medical Optics, a spin-off from the University of Twente, develops advanced optical imaging technology for improved intraoperative visualisation. By enabling surgeons to detect critical structures in real time, TMO contributes to safer and more precise surgical interventions.
