Levels Diagnostics advances biomarker validation for early liver cancer detection | Alumni news

Levels Diagnostics, alumnus of the Venture Challenge Fall 2019, has secured new funding to support the clinical validation of its biomarkers for the early detection of liver cancer.

The funding will be used to conduct a validation study involving 300 patients, using advanced proteomics technologies to assess biomarker performance. Early detection of liver cancer remains challenging, as the disease is often diagnosed at a stage where treatment options are limited.

Levels Diagnostics develops diagnostic technologies based on activated immune cells as biomarkers, aiming to improve the accuracy of disease detection compared to currently used markers such as CRP and PCT. The company is working towards both a hospital based immunoassay and a rapid, portable diagnostic test for use in primary care settings.

The investment round includes three angel investors, one of whom brings relevant industry expertise. Existing investors imec.istart, Libertatis Ergo Holding B.V. and BlueHealth Innovation Center, now part of imec.istart, also participated in the round.

Levels Diagnostics focuses on translating clinically validated biomarker research into practical diagnostic tools that support better clinical decision making and reduce unnecessary treatment.
