Lumox wins Health & Wellbeing category at the NL Startup Competition

Lumox, alumnus of the Venture Challenge, has been named the winner of the Health & Wellbeing category at the NL Startup Competition 2026.

The competition, one of the Netherlands’ leading startup events, brought together more than 125 startups pitching their innovations to investors, corporates, and ecosystem leaders. The grand finale took place during Upstream Festival in Rotterdam.

Advancing precision cancer treatment

Lumox is developing a light-activated targeted cancer therapy designed to improve the treatment of solid tumors. By combining precision targeting with light activation, the technology aims to increase treatment efficacy while reducing side effects for patients.

The startup was founded by Irati Beltrán Hernández and Sebas Pronk, who participated in the Venture Challenge and have continued to build momentum with their innovative approach to cancer therapy.

More than a trophy

In addition to receiving the category award, Lumox also earned a place in the Draper University Hero Training Program in Silicon Valley. The prize includes a trip to the United States, where the team will have the opportunity to connect with entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators from around the world.
