Biotech Booster 2027 opening soon
After three successful project rounds, the 2027 Biotech Booster round will soon open for pre-applications. For each round, funding is available up to €200.000 for Level 1 projects and €1.9 million for Level 2 projects. For the subsidy scheme and eligibility criteria, please visit this DUS-I page.

Key dates:
- Level 2 pre-applications: opens on August 25th, 2026 and closes on September 8th, 2026 at 14.00 CET
- Level 1 pre-applications: opens in Q4 2026
Biotech Booster is a national program that helps researchers and founders in the Netherlands transform promising Dutch biotechnology discoveries into investable and commercially viable propositions with societal and economic impact. Through funding, mentorship and access to a nationwide network including seasoned entrepreneurs, industry partners and leading knowledge institutes, Biotech Booster supports your journey from early-stage idea to market-ready innovation.
What you can apply for
Two types of projects are eligible for financial support:
€ 200.000 | Level 1 | Proof of Principle
An idea that could work on scientific grounds, but whose practical operation and commercial feasibility has yet to be demonstrated.
€ 1.9 million | Level 2 | Proof of Concept
An idea whose proof of principle has been demonstrated and that can be developed into a practicable and commercially feasible process or product.
Who can apply
- Level 1: Proof of Principle: knowledge and research institutes and start-ups that use knowledge generated by a Dutch knowledge institute.
- Level 2: Proof of Concept: start-ups, companies, research organizations and/or knowledge institutes.
