Each year, at least 3 million heart stents are placed in the Western world, of which 25% are required at arterial branches (ostia). Due to poor vision and patient movements, placement at this location is notably challenging (50% significantly deviates from the intended position and might cause additional short-term restenosis and/or possible long term health problems).
Current methods often increase complexity, costs and patient risk. Kingfisher developed and patented a mechanical device that takes the guesswork out of coronary stent placement; it ensures consistent, precise placement at the ostium during Percutaneous Coronary Interventions. This sophisticated innovation minimizes patient risks, reduces procedure costs and time, and is compatible with all commonly used stents.
