PlateletDx

Every year, hundreds of thousands of patients with non-small cell lung cancer complete treatment believing their cancer has been eliminated, yet up to 30% will relapse because residual disease remains invisible to current monitoring methods. Despite advances in imaging and ctDNA-based liquid biopsies, no clinically adopted MRD test can reliably detect recurrence at the earliest stage when intervention is most effective. PlateletDx is developing a breakthrough blood test that detects minimal residual disease earlier and more sensitively than existing approaches by analysing tumour-educated blood platelet RNA signatures. Built on more than fifteen years of scientific research and validated across multiple cancer types, our platform leverages host’s active biological response to malignancy through platelet RNA biology. Importantly, PlateletDx has already generated clinical proof-of-concept data demonstrating that platelet RNA signatures dynamically track tumour burden over time in glioblastoma brain tumour patients and can identify disease progression during longitudinal monitoring in cancer patients. This provides early clinical validation of platelet RNA as a molecular monitoring technology and forms the foundation for our NSCLC minimal residual disease programme. Unlike ctDNA-based assays, our technology does not require tumour tissue and remains effective even when tumour burden is extremely low.
